Our story
Three generations between the forest and the sawmill
Wood Center began as a small sawmill at the edge of a mountain forest, cutting beams for the farms in the valley. Today we work with forest owners and family sawmills across Europe, from Austrian larch and Slovenian beech to Slavonian oak and Swedish pine, and bring their timber to builders, architects, joiners and furniture makers.
What has not changed is how we choose wood: slowly, by hand and by eye. We walk the stacks, read the grain and only ship boards we would be proud to build with ourselves.
Traceable origin
Each delivery comes with the region, sawmill and drying record of its batch.
Slow seasoning
Air-dried first, then gently kiln-dried, so boards stay flat and stable for decades.
Forests for tomorrow
We buy from forests managed for regrowth, where more wood grows each year than is felled.
“A good board tells you where it grew. Our job is to listen.”

How we work
From forest to your site in five careful steps
- 1
Select the stand
We visit forests and partner sawmills and choose logs by species, growth and straightness.
- 2
Saw with the grain
Each trunk is cut to make the most of it: quarter-sawn for stability, flat-sawn for figure.
- 3
Season slowly
Air-drying in open stacks, then gentle kiln-drying to the moisture your project needs.
- 4
Grade by hand
Every board is checked for knots, checks and colour, then sorted into clear grades.
- 5
Deliver and support
Packed, labelled and delivered on time, with advice on storage, finishing and installation.

Builders and makers who work with our wood
The larch arrived exactly as we had sorted it on the phone: straight, dry and beautifully matched. Two winters later the facade still reads like one tree.
For the barn we needed nine-metre oak beams with honest character. Wood Center found them and documented where every single beam came from.
The best walnut we have worked with. Consistent colour, careful drying and people who actually pick up the phone.
FAQ
Questions we hear at the yard
Can’t find your answer? Call or write to us: a timber specialist will get back to you within one working day.
Do you sell to private customers or only to the trade?
Both. We supply builders, joiners and architects, and we gladly help homeowners with a single floor, a terrace or a table top. Minimum quantities depend on the species and on how much machining is needed.
Where does your timber come from?
From managed forests and partner sawmills in Central, Eastern and Northern Europe. Every delivery note lists the species, the region of origin and the drying record of the batch.
Can I choose the boards myself?
Yes. Book a yard visit and a specialist will walk the stacks with you. For larger orders we can set boards aside and send you photos to approve.
How dry is your wood?
Hardwood for interiors is kiln-dried to 8–12% moisture. Construction timber and cladding are dried to 15–18%, or to the value your engineer specifies.
Do you deliver outside your region?
We deliver across the European Union and to Switzerland, Norway and the United Kingdom with our own trucks and partner hauliers. Delivery costs are always shown on the quote.
How fast can I get a quote?
Usually within two working days. Send us the species, sizes, quantities and delivery address; a drawing or cutting list helps us price precisely.
