The brief
A furniture studio was preparing a limited series of twelve dining tables and wanted every top to share the same colour and figure.
The timber
We bought three neighbouring walnut logs and sawed them through and through, keeping the boards of each log together in sequence. After two years of air-drying and a slow kiln cycle, the boards reached 8% and went to Milan as complete log bundles.
The result
The studio book-matched the boards into twelve tops with the same deep brown heartwood and lively grain. The whole series sold before the end of the design week.
